Costco Executive Membership is for Families

You are going to get a Costco membership, but you are unsure whether you should purchase the Gold Star Membership or the Gold Star Executive Membership.

Well, from my experience, if you have a family,
I say Gold Star Executive Membership.

I want to start by saying that I have no affiliation with Costco. I just want to share our experience with others because it may be beneficial.

When a Costco store was opening up near our house, my husband and I decided to switch from Sam’s to Cosco. When we were looking at the different membership options (current pricing is Gold Star Membership $60 vs Gold Star Executive Membership $120. It may have been a little less when we joined. ) we decided to sign up for the Executive  Membership.

I do not remember why we made this choice, but I remember liking the fact that Gold Star Executive Members received 2% back at the end of the year on qualifying Costco purchases. We decided that in order to make the additional cost of the Executive Membership worthwhile, that we would try to buy as many of our groceries as we could from Cosco. At the time we thought that since we had a baby and diapers were a large part of our grocery budget, that maybe that 2% would add up to a small amount at the end of the year.

Little did we know, that that was the last time that we would ever have to pay for our Cosco membership out of our pocket. Because we get the 2% back from our purchases, every year before it’s time to renew my membership we receive a check from Costco which covers the cost of our Executive Membership renewal plus an extra $30 give or take.

So, since our initial purchase of our Gold Star Executive Membership 9 or 10 years ago, we have not put another dime towards our membership. We simply renew our membership with the check that we receive from Costco and put the rest towards groceries.

A Costco Gold Star Executive Membership may be right for you if:
1. Have a baby and buy diapers
2 . Have a family and large grocery bills
3. Are making big purchases such as electronics or appliances
4. Using Costco travel

In conclusion, I hope this was helpful if you were going back-and-forth about which Cosco membership to buy.

Here is the link if you were interested. I’m not receiving any compensation from Costco or anyone else for this post.

Thanks,
Lulu
